Meet Our Board

John Rice (Chairperson)

Fr. Owen Lambert, CSSp (Founder, CEO)
Fr. Owen was born in West Wicklow, near Knockananna village and went to local NS, Hacketstown and to Blackrock, graduated from UCD in 1968 and from Maynooth College and Kimmage Development Study Centre in 1974. After ordination he took up work in Gamo Gofa, South West Ethiopia in same year and remained there until the end of 2000. After extensive experience developing and maintaining and integrated approach to the HIV/AIDS pandemic during his over 30 years in Ethiopia and Tanzania, Fr. Owen founded APA (then AIDS Partnership with Africa) in Ireland.

Conor Canavan 
Conor's professional background is as a chartered accountant. But Conor also brings his experience in Ethiopia to his role as a board member. He lives in Derry and is a part of the North West group. Conor has been with APA since 2003.

Marian Lambert
Marian has approximately 30 years of experience living and working in Ethiopia and Tanzania. As Director of APA's primary partner organisation, CVM, Marian has an expertise in project management and monitoring, reporting and evaluation. Given her extensive knowledge and network in East Africa, Marian provides an invaluable support through the monitoring of APA and CVM's joint projects. Marian has been a board member since 2003. 
Mary Sheehan

Aidan Clifford
Aidan has over thirty years of experience in education between being a former teacher and former director of the CDETB Curriculum Development Unit. He currently serves as the Irish representative for the Council of Europe's Education for Democratic Citizenship/Human Rights Education and as the CDETB Curriculum Development Unit's representative on the consortium steering committee for Irish Aid's World Wise Global Schools programme. Aidan has been an APA board member since 2016 and serves on the Education Committee. 
Marguerite Brady
Marguerite is a nurse, tutor and  therapist of complementary therapies. She lives in Galway and is an advocate for those less fortunate and those living on the margin of life. She has been actively involved in fundraising since her early 20's and continues to promote the right and dignity all people to live a full life not matter colour, creed or race. Marguerite has been a member of the board since 2003.

Vyara Panova
Vyara is a qualified accountant and a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland. Vyara has over 17 years of experience in the financial services sector and held a number of senior managerial positions, including 15 years of experience as an external auditor in KPMG where she audited and advised large domestic and international regulated clients and presented results at Board and Audit Committee meetings. Vyara has also been a co-founder member of the senior management team of an international non-profit organisation for the last 10 years. Vyara is a member of the Board of A Partnership with Africa since 2016.
